Adding a product (Shopify)
Before you start connecting Customer's Canvas with your products, you need to get prepared: add a product to your Shopify account and configure the required information. Since we are integrating the editor to the product, not to the online-store.
In this guide, on the business card example, we'll learn how to:
Add the product and fill in the information.
Attach the product to the collection.
Open the product in your online store.
You must have an account with Shopify to complete this task. If you don’t have one already, please contact our support team.
To fill in the product information, you need to prepare a business card image.
- You may create it yourself: using Adobe software, such as InDesign; or the Template editor.
- You can take the ready image here.
Adding a product and setting options in a Shopify store
Step 1. Add the product and fill in the information.
Without products it is impossible to imagine any online-store, the correct filling in of the product information is necessary both for the subsequent integration of the editor, and for increasing sales.
Here we'll show just some of the functionality for creating products needed for Customer's Canvas integration. You can explore Shopify's extensive capabilities on this page.
- Open your Shopify account. Click Products in the left menu. Here you can see a full list of your Products and their Status, Inventory, Type, and Vendor.
Active status means that your product has already been published. Vendor means which store a product belongs to.
Click Add product > type in a Title (Business-Card) > fill in the Description (Classic style for any business). Click Add file to upload an image or drag and drop it. Set up Pricing ($10).
Set the quantity (100).
Hit on Variants > add the option (material) and fill in the required information (Paper, Plastic).
Shopify allows to configure just three options included in the subscription. They can have any name you like.
Step 2. Attach the product to the collection.
In the second step, you need to add tags for products to improve the search for them in the store. Or you can create product collections using them.
- In the right menu bar find Organization, fill in the Product type (Business-Card) > add a Vendor (your store).
- Create Tags for your products (customizable, business-card).
- Toggle on the Active product status to publish the business card. Click Save.
Step 3. Open the product in your online store.
Now the business card is published and your store is ready for Customer's Canvas integration. Let's first check it out by opening!
Find the added product in the product list > click on the eye icon (Preview on Online Store).
Click Add to cart > check your cart, if all in order > click Check out.
You can always open the product in your store's Shopify account and update the information.
