Text wrapping
- 1 minutes to read
When you define properties of a design item, you can control how the underlying text will be combined with this item. This article explains different text wrapping options.
Wrapping modes
The Template Editor supports three wrapping modes:
None
- the image overlays underlying text. This is the default mode.Square
- underlying text wraps around the item's bounding box.Tight
- underlying text wraps around the item's shape.
Changing a wrapping mode
To change a wrapping mode, click an item, click the Design tab, and then expand the Wrapping section.
Wrapping margin
You may also control the distance between an element and text when wrapping occurs. To do so, select an underlying text element, open the Wrapping section in properties, and find the Wrapping margin property. It defines the margin between the text and the item that this text will wrap around. By default, this margin is 7
points.
See it in action
To see how it works, create a text box and add some filler text to it. Now, drag an item above this text box and try different values of the wrapping mode. You will see how the characters of the underlying text will wrap the item.
Now, let's go further and learn how you can set up overprint in the Template Editor.
